Good examples of NSSE data use to supplement VSA College Portraits
Many institutions have used NSSE results to populate the “Student Experiences and Perceptions” section of the VSA College Portrait. NSSE reports and related resources can also be added via several links in the College Portrait to provide supplementary information about how institutions evaluate the experiences of its students.
Featured below are selected examples of institutions that have added supplemental information, including reports and institutional Web sites that feature NSSE data, to their VSA College Portraits.
Auburn University has added links to NSSE results from 2002-2004 and 2006-2012 displayed on the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment Web site.
Central Connecticut State University links to results from its participation in NSSE in 2001, 2002, and 2007-2011 in the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment section of the CCSU Web site. Additional reports on the first-year experience, campus housing, and retention are also featured. The page also includes a link to the NSSE document, Contextualizing NSSE Effect Sizes
Iowa State University includes a link to a PDF document entitled, Student Profile 2011-12 , which displays selected NSSE results along with student characteristics, enrollment data, CIRP results, and other data related to academic achievement.
Miami University (OH) links to NSSE results from 2003-2011 along with numerous assessment reports using NSSE data on topics such as diversity, study abroad, the first-year experiences and others.
University of Colorado Boulder links to the Office of Planning, Budget, and Analysis Web page which includes a lengthy description of the NSSE survey and provides context for links to CU-Boulder's results. Additional analyses and graphs carried out at the college and departments level are also linked.
University of Minnesota - Twin Cities links to the Office of Insitutional Research Web page which includes its results from its 2008 and 2009 NSSE administrations. NSSE Executive Snapshots from these two years are also linked.
The University of Wyoming provides a link to its NSSE 2007, 2009, and 2012 results displayed on its institutional Web site as part of its stated commitment to ongoing assessment of student learning and to transparency in providing information for parents and students in interpreting UW’s NSSE results.
