Registration for the Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement (BCSSE) is open as of March 1, 2023!
BCSSE targets recent high school graduates, transfer students, and older students with little or no prior experience in higher education. Institutions use BCSSE for academic advising, first-year experience programs, retention initiatives, faculty development, and other activities focused on student success.
NSSE is pleased to release the first of three data-informed stories in Engagement Insights—Survey Findings on the Quality of Undergraduate Education, an annual series detailing important and timely NSSE findings.
This first release, Rebounding Engagement: Has Higher Education Returned to "Normal"?, presents patterns of student engagement and time allocations, focusing on trends from 2019 to 2022 to explore shifts during the pandemic.

Institutions can customize our surveys to their specific needs, including Topical Modules, Consortia, and Open-Ended Student Comments, as well as administration methods and reporting data.
After customizing NSSE and/or our other surveys to individual needs, institutions must promote the surveys on their campuses to ensure quality response rates and accurate data. NSSE offers helpful tips for these efforts.
NSSE delivers survey results in the form of several reports, including a Snpapshot Report, a High-Impact Practices Report, a Multi-Year Report, a Comaprison Report, a Major Field Report, and more.
