Several researchers have found that student participation in undergraduate research is positively related to student learning outcomes, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and intercultural effectiveness. The study aims to examine what factors influence student participation in undergraduate research in three STEM fields.

NSSE’s third release, Using NSSE Results in Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive (DEI) Assessment Practices, provides insights about how colleges and universities can use their NSSE results to intentionally consider DEI-related issues in their assessment practices and initiatives. Each section of the story conveys how institutional stakeholders can explore and use their results through equity-centered methodologies and components of the survey (using student comments and our new, disaggregated disability item).
On February 23, the NSSE 2022 survey launched at about 20 of the 474 NSSE participating institutions. FSSE 2022 survey will launch later this spring.
