The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is a trusted and widely used instrument for assessing the quality of undergraduate education—providing institutions diagnostic, actionable information that fosters and catalyzes evidence-based improvement efforts.
The NSSE 2022 survey closes May 15 at 474 colleges and universities. We're grateful for the students who shared their views and the faculty who participated in the companion Faculty Survey of Student Engagement.

Ten Topical Modules were administered in 2022, including Experiences with Online Learning, Inclusiveness & Engagement with Cultural Diversity, and HIP Quality.
NSSE & FSSE 2023 Registration opens July 1.

Annual Results 2021: Three Stories Released
On March 11, 2022 NSSE released the final of three data-informed stories in Engagement Insights—Survey Findings on the Quality of Undergraduate Education, an annual series detailing important and timely NSSE findings. The newest story, , provides insights about how colleges and universities can use their NSSE results to intentionally consider DEI-related issues in their assessment practices and initiatives. The first installment, The Pandemic and Student Engagement: Trends, Disparities, and Opportunities, presents the stark changes to student engagement for the 2020-2021 academic year, while the second release, Flexible and Adaptable: Teaching and Learning in a Year of Disruption, reveals how instructional practices and student engagement adapted to suit changing campus conditions.
